Privacy Policy

Effective: September 5, 2026

AnimeJanaru is built around a simple idea: your journal should feel private. This policy explains what information AnimeJanaru collects, why it is used, when it is sent to third-party service providers, and the choices you have.

Local-first by design. You can use the core editor without an account. Notes and journals created while using local mode are stored in your browser on that device. Cloud sync is optional and requires an account. Free accounts include limited cloud sync; Premium removes the entry/device limits and adds additional cloud features.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: email address, display name, password credentials handled by our authentication provider, and account preferences.
  • Your content: notes, journal entries, categories, tags, cover selections, personalization settings, and photos you choose to add. In local mode, this content remains in browser storage on your device and is not sent to AnimeJanaru's cloud. If you use account cloud sync, eligible content is stored in your private cloud account. Free accounts may sync up to the current Free entry limit on one active device at a time; Premium accounts may receive higher or unlimited limits and additional cloud features. It is not made public or shared with other users.
  • Support communications: messages and information you send when contacting support.
  • Billing information: subscription status, plan information, transaction identifiers, and related billing metadata. Full payment-card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by AnimeJanaru.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting, authentication, security, and email providers may receive technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, and security logs when you use AnimeJanaru. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and deliver the service.

2. Local data versus cloud data

Local modeWithout an account, note and journal content is stored in browser storage on your device. Clearing browser data, changing devices, private browsing restrictions, device loss, or browser cleanup can remove local data.
Free account cloud syncFree accounts may sync a limited number of eligible writing entries to the private account cloud on one active device at a time. Current in-app limits control the exact allowance. Local writing can remain on a device even when the cloud limit is reached.
Account informationIf you create an account, your account and profile information is sent to our authentication/backend provider so you can sign in and manage your account.
Premium cloud featuresPremium removes the Free entry/device limits and may sync eligible notes, journals, photos, categories, settings, covers, and related personalization data across your devices. Cloud content is protected by authenticated, per-user access controls and is not made public or shared with other users. Cloud content is not currently end-to-end encrypted, so authorized backend or infrastructure administrators may technically be able to access it when necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or comply with legal obligations.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide and secure AnimeJanaru, authenticate users, save and synchronize account cloud content, process subscriptions, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, diagnose technical problems, maintain account preferences, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. As of the effective date above, AnimeJanaru does not use third-party advertising trackers or sell/share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Service providers

We use service providers that process information only as needed to deliver their services to us. These may include:

  • Supabase for authentication, database, and cloud storage;
  • Vercel for website hosting and delivery;
  • Stripe for subscription payments and billing management;
  • Resend or another transactional email provider for account verification, password-reset, and service emails; and
  • content-delivery, security, and infrastructure providers used to operate the site.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their handling of information is also governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

5. Cookies, browser storage, and tracking

AnimeJanaru uses browser storage and similar technologies that are necessary for features such as local autosave, account sessions, preferences, and application functionality. We currently do not use advertising cookies or behavioral advertising trackers on the AnimeJanaru site.

Because we do not currently sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, there is no sale or targeted-advertising activity to opt out of. Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not separately acted on where no such tracking is occurring.

6. How long we keep information

Local content remains on your device until you delete it, clear browser storage, or the browser/device removes it. Cloud account and subscription-related data is kept while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service. When you delete content or an account, deletion may take time to propagate through backups, logs, fraud-prevention records, or legally required records. Billing providers may retain transaction records as required by law and their own policies.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

You can edit or delete your AnimeJanaru content from the app, export local backups where available, manage your account information, cancel Premium through billing controls, or request account deletion. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of certain personal information.

To make a privacy request, contact support@animejanaru.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. California privacy disclosures

California residents may have additional rights under applicable California privacy laws. AnimeJanaru does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly used in California privacy law. If those practices change, this policy and any required privacy-choice mechanisms will be updated.

9. Children

AnimeJanaru is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that such information was collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Where local law requires parental or guardian consent for users above age 13, the user is responsible for obtaining that authorization.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect account and cloud data, including authenticated per-user access controls and encrypted network connections. Cloud content is not currently end-to-end encrypted. This means it is private from other users, but authorized backend or infrastructure administrators may technically be able to access cloud content when necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or comply with legal obligations. No storage or transmission system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as AnimeJanaru changes. The effective date at the top will be updated when material revisions are made. If a change materially affects how registered users’ personal information is handled, we may provide additional notice through the service or by email when appropriate.
